"6462" is the altitude in meters of the highest mountain in La Paz, Bolivia called Illimani or better known for being the largest Achachila in this wonderful city. The Achachilas in the Aymara culture are the superhuman beings that protect the local communities, they are represented in the form of mountains and mountain ranges that surround, shelter, protect and supervise the cities. It is common in this culture for its people to revere them and contribute offerings to them.
The collection created and produced in La Paz makes a nod to the designer's roots. It arises from the longing for her hometown and with her clothes she offers a tribute to this land. It takes as a reference elements of the Andean worldview such as great color, duality and geometry. Likewise, it is nourished by the modern artistic manifestations that represent this culture such as the works of Mamani Mamani and the cholets of Freddy Mamani.
The garments apart from being inspired by the Aymara-La Paz culture suggest an urban, functional and technical air. In other words, cultural notions are fused with a modern vision of casual fashion.
When talking about Illimani, one thinks of the cold, the altitude and the lack of oxygen. These characteristics, as well as the snow, are peculiarities of La Paz, located at 3600m above sea level. Therefore, the garments transmit that protection, as well as the Achachilas protect, people need external pieces to protect themselves from the weather. The mixture of the urban with the protection generates cold-resistant outerwear designed to be worn on any occasion.
For all these reasons, "6462" is a collection of padded jackets along with timeless garments resulting from the hybridization of Andean culture and modern streetwear. It takes as a starting point the Achachila Illimani that represents La Paz and the shelter that it offers, and translates it into warm clothes that are offered as an offering to the designer's homeland.
