The Danish-Australian designer Emma MONTAGUE pursues a luxury artisanal approach to eyewear and jewellery.

A Royal College of Art Masters graduate and recent ITS: International Talent Support finalist, Emma formerly studied Fine Art specialising in jewellery before moving onto Copenhagen and later London where she cut her teeth in the industry working with revered designers Lara Bohinc, Alexander McQueen and Atelier Swarovski.

Montague's work has featured in Vogue Italia, Wallpaper*, Elle. dk, Collezioni Accessori, Tatler and Wired; whilst her work has been showcased in London's Saatchi Gallery, Paris Fashion Week, Milan's Salone de Mobile and the Netherlands' Galerie Marzee.

London based Montague is currently working with avant-garde eyewear, Seoul based brand Gentle Monster on a limited edition to launch in early 2015.

Friction can be found where luxury meets decay and the refined becomes raw.

As raw remnants collide with smooth surfaces, hybrid forms take shape within this collection of handmade eyewear. Luxury and decay meet through the use of highly charged material, animal bone and teeth against polished black buffalo horn, acetate and gold.

Claiming dark glasses as today's guise of modern armour, Montague presents her collection with titles deriving from European armorial codes including Chief, Widow, Heiress (Blonde and Gold), Arms of Expectation and the anomaly Black Sheep. The collection is designed and entirely hand carved in response to the natural form and character of the individual deer jawbone. Seamlessly fused with a surreal mix of materials the result is as thought provoking as it is crafted.
