Elizabeth Gilbey is a young up-and-coming British designer. Originally from a secluded area of natural beauty in Scotland, she moved to London at the age of 18. This wealth of stimulus leads her to combine both elements of rural beauty and urban metropolitan visuals. This combination leads to juxtaposition between soft and harsh within design. Elizabeth Gilbey sees design as an extension of herself, another outlet for her imagination. This means the designs always contain depth and soulfulness. Elizabeth Gilbey is currently focussing on a combination of textile techniques including knit and print in order to create innovative, luxury garments. Elizabeth Gilbey recently showed her MA collection as part of Kingston University's showcase at London Fashion Week.

Latest Collection

H Y P N A G O G I A

Hypnagogia draws inspiration from the transitional state between wakefulness and sleep. It draws on visual stimulus from traditional alchemic symbols, early Arctic explorers and artists such as Yayoi Kusama. This was then translated as knitted textiles, juxtaposed with foiled leather to create exiting, tactile, luxury garments. Experimental materials were used to knit such as polyurethane coated yarn, leather thonging and gold foils.
