The collection "cose di famiglia" is an intimate project, made entirely with antique fabrics from my grandmother’s house. The reason behind the collection is an introspective analysis caused by isolation, which has led to a multidirectional search, starting from the nostalgic exploration of familiar places, up to the investigation into the past and origins. The project examines the domestic space and investigates the home-body relationship and the feelings arising from the distance from society, translating them into clothing. During the pandemic isolation the body was camouflaged with the walls of the house, as in the photographs of Francesca Woodman, starting point for the development of the collection. The concept that permeates this collection is the search for identity, the idea of continuous metamorphosis and rebirth, which is manifested in the garments, both materially and conceptually. The outcome of the research are eight looks that embody the inner changes experienced during the pandemic starting from impulses such as fear and vulnerability, in which the body needs a resistant and protective shell to relate to the outside. Through the use of heavy fabrics and ancient techniques such as starching, some clothes have been stiffened to the point of becoming a defensive wall themselves. Gradually in the collection we come to the reduction of the heaviness of the garments and the loss of rigidity, which coincides with the desire to strip away all the barriers to return to freedom, in which the body relates to the outside without the need for defense.
