Monika Lozanovska was born in Skopje. Her interest in jewellery comes from her extensive experience in making accessories with her mother, which inspired her to study jewellery design in Alchimia, a contemporary jewellery school in Florence. She participated in the end-of-year exhibition at Giardino Sonoro. After gaining basic silversmithing skills, she continued her practice by learning different techniques at the Escola d’Arts i Oficis in Barcelona. In the meantime, she expanded her knowledge by taking a summer course in Contacto Directo, Lisbon to learn how to work with resin.
After gaining experiences abroad she decided to come back to Skopje to continue expanding the family business while implementing the knowledge she learned elsewhere. She decided to complete a filigree course, the most ancient jewellery technique, after which she created the Filigree Association. She received funding to open her own workshop and gallery in the old town of Skopje, aided by the Ministry of Culture of Macedonia. She exhibits her pieces in most markets in Macedonia. Her design style and materials she uses are eclectic; therefore she called her label EKLEKTIKA.
