DÜSK is a progressive Budapest based fashion brand, which is working with urban design, futuristic solutions, and representing high quality streetwear, focuses on men's clothing and unisex design. DÜSK was founded by Dóra Hegedűs in 2016, and it was known as DoraHegedus for three years among Hungarian fashion brands, however, since 2019, the brand has launched its collections under the name DÜSK.
The essence of DÜSK is determined by Dora's interest in various artistic disciplines: alternative theater, underground music scene, contemporary arts and the iconic creations of the modern film industry. The brand is characterized by a creative style, based on fabric manipulation techniques that are almost its trademark. Beside the technical approach DÜSK is constantly reflecting on the arts around us, and important social phenomena, like gender equality and sustainability issues.
DÜSK is an acronym of the designer’s surname and noun “dusk”. Following English dictionary “dusk” is the darker stage of twilight. This period sets the boundary between day and night, as the brand and unisex collections focuses on blurring the boundaries between subcultures and genders. DÜSK reflects the brand’s diverse identity, melancholic mood and the blurred and dark feeling with a blew of light. Nothing is black or white.
The goal to define a progressive futuristic line, which combines traditional techniques like weaving or hand-dying with contemporary solutions and tries to find the balance between old and new, traditional and innovative designs. The aim is to develop collections, which are bold and extreme and at the same time functional and wearable. Dora loves to look back to the 80s punkrock-era prints, and icons like Bowie or Jagger and classic silhouettes to emphasise an artistic but comfortable look.
DÜSK is a melancholic, sensitive yet dynamic brand; it is aimed primarily at those who seek their place in the world, but also desire for specialty and comfort. The brand speaks to both men and women, as well as the younger and older generations, because the designer believes that the clothes become unique from who wears those items. The DÜSK collections combine styles and techniques from different eras, like the iconic ‘80-s or the unexpected future, and that way the pieces remain timeless yet progressive.
