A Maldivian immigrant who first settled in Australia and then moved to the United Kingdom. Her decision to name the brand after herself was because it was a reflection of her upbringing, being born in the East and moving to the West and the challenges of being part of two clashing cultures. With a prior BA in Industrial Design at RMIT, her influences lie in furniture, product and service design.

"Anxiety and The Masks We Wear" rooted from Rooya's personal struggles with her mental health. It is also about trying to break the stigma that surrounds mental health, by creating a safe space for those behind masks and encouraging everyone to be open and understanding. The collection aims to provide garments that give a sense of comfort through texture and address the topic in a more positive manner, using bold and bright colours.
