DE UBIETA
De Ubieta is a footwear brand from Barcelona created in 2012 by Sara De Ubieta, an architect and shoemaker.

De Ubieta attempts to redefine the limits of design, generating an artistic discourse that is linked to the object, beyond sheer functionality and comfort. Her designs maintain a balance between artistic fashion and object utility.

De Ubieta shoes are high-end products due to their design, manufacture and the high quality of the starting materials employed, ultimately granting each item its own unique personality. All of the products are handmade limited-edition models, a characterizing feature that has accompanied the brand since its inception. De Ubieta does not believe in the democratization of fashion or mass consumption, but rather in judicious acquisition and granting a sensible value to each item.

With regard to the idea of responsible consumption, De Ubieta always uses vegetable-cured leathers, which require fewer chemical treatments, and thus significantly reduces environmental contamination. All materials are sourced from the Iberian Peninsula with the aim of favouring local and ecological commerce.

Until this most recent collection, De Ubieta had only focused on handmade footwear, all meticulously assembled in the shop, controlling each aspect of production first-hand: design creation, the selection of starting materials and the assembly of the shoe. Following these first collections (all handmade in Barcelona), De Ubieta has decided to generate a larger production in a small factory in Oporto (Portugal). Without compromising the artisan spirit of each shoe, this next step has resulted in the incorporation of more technology into the process, which gives rise to the concept of the new collection: UNIO.
