Davorka Pozgan is very passionate about her work, refers to her designs as “her babies” and is an overall joy to work with. She is punctual and precise and has an extremely rich imagination. She takes in advice and criticism and turns them to her own advantage. Her designs are always made out of the best fabrics. They have an ageless energy and are at the same time extremely narrative and vibrant. She plays with fabrics beyond the restrictions of typical designs and turns them into wearable canvases. She explores and perfects silkscreen printing, using it to emphasize the fabric’s natural flow and energy. Her interests lie in the graphic expression and in the structural changes of the fabrics. Her collections are witty, colourful, humorous, extravagant and edgy. She loves telling stories through her pieces. In one collection she will talk about the seven deadly sins, and then create a story of a Cherry-blossom girl, a sexy, independent female mixing geisha style with fashion of the 50s, inspired by the gluey mood of Sophia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides. Her latest reality-struck winter fairytale tells a story about a widow struggling to survive in a traditional rural Slovenia. Davorka’s fashion shows are also very special. She works with contemporary dancers, then uses her friends to do the catwalk, or finds well established models and turns them into actresses. She was one of the finalists of ITS#5 (International Talent Support), the most prestigious European fashion competition, where she presented her collection in the final fashion show. She was also selected as a school representative in the European Fashion Tour held in Milan and London. She has worked on costume designs for many contemporary dance performances and had an exhibition of her art graphics in gallery Delallum in Barcelona. She also created many collections and presented them in solo fashion shows.
