David Kaelble is a WOMENSWEAR designer currently based in Berlin. He grew up in Germany and studied at AMD Academy of fashion & design. During and after his studies he worked for international well known labels like threeASFOUR in New York, Galvan London and Studio William Fan in Berlin.

In 2016 he was selected by Alber Elbaz as a finalist of the world wide known Designer for Tomorrow Award and showed his graduate collection ‘togetherApart' AW 16/17 at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin. Additionally he presented Germany with his AW 16/17 collection at NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti anniversary show in Milan.

Referring to the past and future his design identity is about different countries, cultures and subcultures. Especially he is collecting inspiration by exotic ethnicities, tribes and actual sociopolitical subjects, like his latest collection is mainly inspired by the structure of the South African society.

South Africa – a country influenced by its contrasts with a diverse multicultural society.

A society searching for a new identity trying to leave the shadows and scars of the Apartheid behind while not loosing their traditions and cultural roots.
His collection “together apart” Fall/ Winter 2016/17 is mainly inspired by the structure of the South African society. The dream of the rainbow nation, a common South African identity builds a strong contrast to the actual fragmentation of the society, which is up to date still divided in various different ethnicities and different social layers – still strongly depending on skin colour and heritage. Referencing these aspects made him decide to patch a lot of different textiles with a variation of surfaces, colours, structures and shapes united in one item.
The collection symbolises the South African dream of the Rainbow Nation - multiculturality transferred to multitextuality. Decisive but yet impulsive use of colour and patching direct- ions characterize the art of the Ndebele women who he chose to represent the traditional part of South Africa. In David Kaelble`s perspective their detailed paintings mainly defined by geometric shapes and different colour segments personify the society of South Africa.
