HIGHSHURI, the new designer brand based in London suggests the new perspective on gender and sexuality. Within the context of fashion, this brand continuously thows the questions of the relationship between gender and body. HIGHSHURI is not only challenging the gender norms with the own aesthetic identity, also exploring the unique techniques of fashion. In its upcomming collection, this brand shows the leather moulding techniques in the expermiental approach.

The Princeless Mermaid

A well-known South Korean game company fired a voice actress just for standing up for women. The voice actress posted a selfie on twitter wearing a dope shirt that reads,
“Girls do not need a prince.”

My final major project, ‘A Princeless Mermaid’ is born out from this journey of thinking and observation. There are two things that I mainly want to say: Supporting the stance, Girls do not need a prince and there is no sin in our body. I wanted to make a garment which can show that female breast is not a shame. Still, it is so prevalent in society to classify ‘gender’ into only femininity and masculinity. My rebellious doubt on gender representation- What is femininity and masculinity? Why should we define it? Why femininity is regarded inferior to masculinity? ( According to Serano, any man who appears effeminate or feminized in any way will drastically lose status and respect in our society - Whipping girl, 2007) - made me move to make a garment to prove the existing conception is wrong.
