Opposition and discord are part of us, the line that divides good from evil passes through the center
of every human heart.
Who is willing to destroy even a fragment of their own heart?
Darkness, light, darkness explores the soul shadows, vulnerable yet pure. It starts with an austere
silhouette, without embellishments, which gradually cracks and disintegrates until reaching a point
of ecstasy where asymmetrical volumes are uncontrollable. Instability and violence become present
in the core of the collection, leading the silhouette to become a true monster, for later, dominate it
and attempt to assimilate it, this time without confining it, reconciling with it and making our
darkness docile, our own.
The main materials are cotton and linen, natural and pure fabrics. As for color, it starts with an
off-white, avoiding black, transitioning through raw tones, earthy hues, and accents of blue stained
with gray, until reaching a violent red. Delicate fabrics such as voile, organdy, or silk act as shields,
providing protection in the most innocent way possible.
The notable feature is the reuse of old bed sheets, worn out by time, torn and hand-mended, with
rust and stains from use. White is the color most permeable to the passage of time, abandoning
neutrality and anonymity to become a more sophisticated concept.
Tailor’s interfacing, a fabric designed to remain hidden, is revealed and used as a primary element
in the garments to expose their inner workings. Varnish to seal and protect oneself is present in the
collection, as well as packing tape, as a metaphor for reconstruction, re-making... re-birth. The
tears, asymmetries, and wear evoke that internal struggle; reconciling with oneself is not an easy
path, by any means.
What could be the beauty in evil?
Darkness, light, darkness is a search for the darkest aspect of divinity.
Hatred/evil seen as something intimate, somber, and clear,
a heart transformed into its own mirror, both bright and black.
A proposition to embrace the evil as something good.
Darkness and light as a complete being.
