ORNAMENTS by Contour

Ornaments is a new jewelry collection by CONTOUR. The collection inspired by the Bauhaus movement and the International Style in particular- an architectural style that was common in Tel Aviv in the 30s and 40s.
Since the 30s, many buildings have been built in different styles, but for the designers the Bauhaus buildings remain the essence of Tel Aviv's urban landscape.
The main idea of the Bauhaus is the preference of functionality over decoration. In contrast, the essence of Galit & Lior's work as jewelry designers is to decorate. Unlike clothes that people must wear in order to cover their body, jewelry is a luxury item, and a woman wearing a jewel chooses to decorate herself.
The designers were intrigued by this matter and wanted to emphasize the conflict between the functional values of the Bauhaus and the decorative essence of the jewelry.
