Born in Los Angeles to Japanese parents, Sara Sakanaka moved to New York in 2003 to pursue her fashion design studies. She has spent her career helping hone the vision and craft of emerging designers and established luxury brands including, Imitation of Christ, HONOR, and Ports 1961. Throughout her career as a fashion designer, she had the privilege of working with various artisans who preserve the traditions and values of their craft. Drawn by the desire to create objects that convey specific feelings or values, and explore creative processes, she launched Considered Objects in 2020.
Sara is the founder and Creative Director of Considered Objects, a concept studio based in New York City. The first edition consists of a limited edition offering of repurposed vintage kimono shirts, created to be both sustainable and timeless.
