Founded by uruguayan designer Agustina Comas, the brand Comas, produces its clothings through upcycling, process by which discarded products are reclaimed, transformed and re-collocated into the market. “Everyday in the textile industry, many garments are left apart for not being approved in quality controls. For us this waste is raw material.” Claims Agustina. Her raw material are men’s shirts. “We see men’s shirts as iconical, long lasting style garments, with no expiration date”, says the designer.
Coma’s process starts with selecting discarded garments. Researches are done in factories for identifying the best fabrics and constructions, the chosen shirts are those more connected with the brand’s concept. The challenge is to select those that have the higher transforming potential. Comas’ product mix includes shirts, tanks, skirts and dresses all done from men’s shirts. Durability, classic style, simplicity and timeless design characterize Comas’ products.
