Inspired by 老赖/Deadbeat, a term defining people who owe other people money or other stuff and refuse to return what they owe. I was so disgusted by the deadbeats I encountered including people who stole my stuff, and the EXPERIENCE of SUING A DEADBEAT WHO REFUSED TO PAY THE RENT FOR SUBLETTING IN NYC. The bronze hand-sculpted parts were inspired by the red paint splash and phrases people spray on Deadbeat’s front door in China, and me throwing up badly every day and barely eating anything for weeks because I was so mentally and physically disgusted by the deadbeats I have encountered.
