Controlled Destruction. Summer 2013

This collection is inspired by the idea of humans taking influence from earth’s natural disasters. Using these ideas to create a ‘Controlled Destruction’ in the form of explosions, the textiles I have created draw upon this imagery and the raw, dark and melancholic beauty it beholds. The patterns encase colour in the same way that people can control life on earth, while also being controlled by their surroundings. Filling space in an ordered way to juxtapose chaos and regularity. Contrasted with simple contemporary silhouettes to again gain control of the fabric and print.
