Inertia ss14-15

Inertia ss14-15

noun 1. A tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged.

‘Inertia’ is a reference to the current state of the fashion industry and the unsustainable practices of the fast fashion cycle. Fast fashion encourages the exploitation of workers, unfair working conditions and environmental pollution. High turn over of seasonal collections also creates ‘disposable’ garments, which are designed to be discarded at the end of the season in favour of the next. Textile waste currently accounts for approximately 4% of total landfill waste in New Zealand.
