inspired by baroque art. Baroque Art flowered during the period of 1590 - 1720. A time when the Catholic Church was facing increased criticism from the Protestant reformation. The Catholic church needed to reassert itself, especially among the large populations who were illiterate and couldn’t read the bible or understand its meaning. Baroque started as a hyper-realistic and dramatic art form which depicted key elements of Catholic Dogma, either directly in Biblical works or indirectly in Mythological compositions.
