The traditional carpet construction technique of tufting has been used in a contemporary way by using it for fashion design and by the unconventional replacement of the woven base with a knitted fabric alternative. The approach to this work was to experiment with different knitting techniques for each look and to use tufting as a decorative shaping tool for the knitted fabric. The unconventional merge of techniques formed a visual language of biomorphism. The properties of the different techniques affect each other’s behaviors which results in a material with a new behavior.
