AUTUMN/WINTER 2509 BC

HLH

This collection draws from a rich culture of dress in the Near East. From observations of present day Iraqi men’s clothing to discoveries of fashions from the beginning of civilization in ancient Sumeria, an extraordinary story is unearthed. East meets West and Past meets Present in this great junction of the world. The Sumerians’ sheepskin wraps seem to link with Iraqi work men, wearing loose, draped trousers or kaftans, at archaeological sites. An unexpected look is created by combining these with western shirts and tailoring in soft layers, and with a touch of denim.
