Upon his death in 2016 the world was reintroduced to the photography of Malick Sidibe. Those photographs served as the inspiration for this collection which was designed at beginning of 2017. Sidibe’s work was a dichotomy of optics that is regularly seen of Africa in the Western World. His work showed his subject in a glorious light, they were impeccable dressed and full of joy. Many of the images were captured during a time when most West African countries were gaining independence which may have been the impetus for such enthusiasm.
