Hitchcock’s words in mind, the coming season is dedicated to MacGuffin; a term, popularised by Hitchcock, for an object
or a person that catches the viewers’ attention or drives the plot of a work of fiction. The ‘MacGuffin’ appears in the story
line for a mere moment before disappearing into insignificance.
Interviewed in 1966 by François Truffaut, Alfred Hitchcock illustrated the term “MacGuffin” with this story:
