Garments to rebuild the world

Originally from Montreal, Eloïse Ptito-Echeverria is a textile & apparel designer based in Amsterdam. Drawing from her Chilean roots, her new series is inspired by the “Arpillera” patch-working process. The arpillera is a brightly-coloured, landscape patchwork picture that was popularized as a form of secret protest during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. They were often made in workshops and secretly distributed through human rights groups, all while participants processed their traumas.
