Heritage encompasses our inherited traditions, monuments, objects and culture. Ultimately we draw a range of contemporary activities, meanings and behaviours from it. The idea of preserving, excavating and restoring a collection of old things gives the sense of authenticity and originality. My research investigates the agricultural aspects during the turn of the century China focusing mainly on the labour class. I will be looking closely at functionality and focus particularly on the detailed workmanship unique to the heritage of this socioeconomic class.
