In celebration of Minnie Mouse as a fashion icon, Damien Ravn was selected by Walt Disney to redesign Minnie Mouse for their ‘Maison Minnie Mouse’ exhibition at the MoMu Fashion Museum in Antwerp. Given carte blanche, Damien went back to the very beginning, to her first three movies; ‘Plane Crazy’, ‘Karnival Kid’ and ‘Steamboat Willie’. Removing all excess and literal translation, the references come through pattern construction and cuts, and the colour palette is based on her very first colour movie, ’the Gallopin’ Gaucho’.
