"Fight or flight"

I drew inspiration for my collection from 1940’s-50’s war era aviation. The collection investigates the changed roles of men and women during; women took on work in factories that would have been done by men pre-war, wearing the same type of overalls as men their femininity becoming merged and blurred. I looked at the clothing of the pilots, their flight suits, G-suits and bomber jackets. I set out to fuse the two aesthetics of male aviator and female worker in a youthful and contemporary manner.
