Maximalismo Tequitqui

Maximalismo Tequitqui

One of the most usual representations of MAXIMALISM is baroque art, so my main inspiration is Tequitqui art. The word Tequitqui means "tribute" or "tributary", is the ephemeral artistic trend at the time of the Viceroyalty of the New Spain in Mexico, which represents the mixture of pre-Hispanic elements with foreign and religious canons, mainly European. The Cross of the Four Flowers is one of the most representative pieces, since in addition to referring to the Christian Cross, it represents the tree of life, pre-Hispanic symbol for agriculture, fertility and seasons.
