Designing around the body could be compared to the ‘space’ architectures use to create new complex forms. Comparisons have been drawn to these two design practice and from investigating the technology transfer and cross-disciplinary working, the practice of digital design or 3D modelling in architecture could be utilised to add value in fashion. The concept of ‘Reverse Pattern-cutting’ presented in this collection has transpired from the basic method of 3D modelling on a software called Rhino which is commonly used in architecture and more recently, 3D printing in fashion. Rhino is a 3D modeller which generates mathematical representation of an object’s surface or in this collection, the garment's pattern pieces. A command that this software offer is transforming a 3D model into 2D development surface which could be reconstructed back into its original form in any materials. By recognising this particular command, the original procedure of 3D modelling was then substituted with creating a garment on the software where the development strips are used as pattern pieces. The aim of this study is to present an innovative method in pattern cutting where technology could facilitate designers to develop and alter silhouette and patterns efficiently. Furthermore, to create more interesting structures around the body and execute beautiful work in garment form.
