The story so far...

Charlotte L Smith is the unique, playful and fresh fashion brand, created by Charlotte, who graduated with First Class Honours in Fashion Design and Marketing at UEL in 2011.

CLS is a fun and individual label, which stands out in the crowd. The collections are brought to life through personally inspired concepts with prints, fabrics and colours that are instantly recognisable and signature to CLS.

The collection: Espionage, has been described as "simply fantastic" showing "genuine talent and flare" with press saying they "fell in love with playful collection of Charlotte Smith and her Espionage collection. Print and colour come together with cottons, sweatshirts and jersey to bring workwear and playwear to another level".

***MISSION***

During WW2. Female spies used seduction to uncover secrets. Allies on the outside and enemies underneath, their sophisticated danger was admirably clever.

This collection looks at females at work within WW2, Together with enigma coding and fighter jets. The beauty of a fighter jet is purely for function. Its function is to kill, similarly, in essence to a female spy. This leaves a dark feeling of what is beautiful in this world.

Key influences include parachutes, harnesses, ww2 uniforms, enigma stations, femme fatales and fighter jets. Details such as airplane seatbelts and ‘top secret’ stamp prints have been used to enhance the concept. Print and colour in uniform fabrics of cotton drill, waxed cotton and sweatshirt have been chosen to reflect the era, seductiveness and workwear designs with twists and drama.
