CATALINA is a Peruvian based clothing brand discharged at 2016, created by Mariella Catalina. A 21 year old peruvian designer recently going to graduate of Mod'Art International. She collects much of information in personal experiences, art , 90s graphics, music and especially in her alter ego:CATALINA. She is the designer, passionate about fashion, art and music. The idea of creating new garments fascinates her, designing all day, all night. Catalina is a little girl, in an adult body. She dreams nude images bathed in blue and pink. Today, she sees all blue, pink, and naked. And I say today, because tomorrow she may see everything in black and white.Catalina talks a lot but says little, Catalina is mind, everything is in her mind and her art. Catalina is simple, sensitive, loving and peaceful, a little self-centered and selfish. Catalina is human. A human who came from another planet.
She recently launched her first collection Unseen Beauty, that won the first place in Mod'Art Peru and it's already getting some renown in Lima.
Theme inspired by episodes from her own life: Accidents that left marks on her body, insecurities, close experiences like diseases such as anorexia and bulimia, etc.
Her studies at the school of fashion design and the analysis of what happens in this industry. But above all, exploring her own body and the challenge to discover or "rediscover" messages that contributes her to the "ideal beauty", which for her does not exist. The ideal is you, and is in you to turn it into an attitude.

Belleza Invisible

UNSEEN BEAUTY is inspired by my research, based on the rediscovery of the beauty of common and sometimes invisible parts of the human body, and its possibilities of celebration.Throughout history, but particularly in recent years, it has built an ideal of beauty and aesthetics, that for me,is wrong; It seeks uniformity, trying to arm themselves in accordance with that ideal;that ideal propose really skinny bodies,big lips,big boobs, perfect teeth,skin tones, etc. Ideal that people lead through surgeries, treatments, operations, garments, etc. What has been achieved is disarmed the beauty instead of building it. My goal is to transform this dilemma, those dissatisfactions and personal insecurities into inspiration to build an identity, an attitude, new codes that reconcile and strengthen a personality.
Starting from the premise that the body is a wonderful, almost perfect machine, and many of his organs and common parts like ears, mouth, nose, ribs, scars, muscles and tendons, besides the skin, which is the most visible, can all be a source of prominence. For so, i decide to create a collection of clothes a bit surreal,fun, modern and interesting. My proposal is to convey this message through colors, prints showing organs, textures that evoke the skin, oversize clothing, curved forms, patches, visible seams that allude to scars, among others.The colors vary from flesh tones, blue and light blue, interpreted by different types of denim 100% peruvian cotton,peruvian baby alpaca, and other synthetic fabrics like neoprene and jersey.
