The Melbourne-based label’s philosophy stems from the utility and history of menswear. Seemingly simple at first glance, their designs are evidently complex and cleverly considered, demonstrating close attention to detail, finish and function; From Britten P/L ensures that the aesthetics achieved by elements of function are not lost in the pursuit of form.

In March 2013, FROM BRITTEN P/L won the National Designer Award at the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, Australia's most prestigious fashion award.

COLLECTION 1201 - SS12/13

From Britten P/L’s 2013 Spring/Summer collection, ‘Correction’ was first and foremost inspired by the ironic Australian youth subculture ‘Lads’. ‘Correction’ incorporates elements of ergonomics and aerodynamics with characteristics of the ‘Lad Look’: Caps, Dad-Shirts and Coats, Running Shorts and Socks, and reinterpreted Jacket-Tees manifest From Britten P/L’s talent for unpredictable metamorphoses.

Inevitably, sportswear references make an appearance, through unusual fabric selections and minimalist design detailing: shirts and blazers are breezy, collars are missing, pockets are streamlined and buttons and zippers are invisible to the naked eye.

The oversized motif, featured in most of the collection’s garments, pays homage to the familiar practice of stealing your dad’s clothes and trying to make them work with your own.
