Osei Bobie Frimpong is a Ghanaian multidisciplinary designer and creative director of August by OBF; a contemporary unisex brand which aims to translate experiences, epiphanies, energies and eras together as 'life' into garments and other art forms.

His garments as explained seek to translate personal interests, real life feelings and happenings into clothes that convey subject matter of each collection.

August by OBF was established in 2018 and is the evolution of his other brands started four years prior. After finally finding a stable grounding and narrative for the brand the first collection, “NAÏVETÉ” was released. A collection released to declare a new beginning. His works will now follow as the narrative goes.

In a period of relocation, this collection was birthed through life. this is a collection under the brand's mainline and was inspired by "galamsey" (gather and sell) activity. galamsey refers to illegal mining activity in ghana. this contributes greatly to pollution pertaining to waterbodies. it interested me to see how little the indigenous people cared about the clothes worn to work (illegal mining activity) the collection was designed to give the "galamseyers" a new outlook.

the collection is an upgraded and refined version of how the illegal miners went on their daily business. from the brand's and designer's perspective, if the physical outlook of these miners can be refined and upgraded, so can issues and regulations regarding galamsey be tweaked to be make mining activity sustainable and profitable.
