Antonella Almonte was born and raised in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. Growing up, Antonella learned hand sewing and embroidery from her aunt who used to be a seamstress, and later on started drawing and painting in her free time. After immigrating to the USA, she attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where she OBTAINED a BFA in Fashion Design. While in Fashion School, Antonella acquired Illustration, Design, Pattern Making and Machine Sewing skills which, added to her talents, help her bring her passion for design tO life.

Onè, meaning “ I honor you “ in Haitian Creole is based on the voodoo ceremonies organized by voodoo practitioners in my home country. Through this collection, I wanted to not only explore a part of my heritage, but also highlight the sense of community, love and the feeling of being embraced by both attendees and unseen forces present during these events.
