I am Annalie van Doorn.
Shape searcher, designer, artist and traveler enthusiast. I have spent my years traveling around the world and have been able to meet so many inspiring human beings. I worked in the field of sustainable fashion which taught me from the beginning that I am here on a mission, to tell the world exactly this: We can take value as extreme as no other species on this planet, yet we do not take care at all. Let's fucking care! Over the years I had the opportunity to create a circular collection for the documentary FULL CIRCLE and I showed my -almost entirely made out of waste material- collection during the HC Paris Fashion Week. After a successfull internship with botter I am freshly graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts with a new up-cycled collection called "Aprés nous, le déluge. I am an innovative shape searcher and I implement these shapes in print and silhouette.
Designing has always been one way of expressing myself as I am constantly triggered by what we are surrounded by. I find inspiration from my family, human psychology and my travels. My fascination for traditional textile makers and methods is what fuels my creativity. I want to remind the world of what is already here and has been for a long time. Craftsmanship and sustainability therefore play a key role in my work. Playing around with all these fascinations all together are characteristics for the story I want to tell, while using multiple creative outputs to express that.

Aprés nous, le déluge

A sentence that I have been hearing my grandmother say as long as I can remember. According to her it is not decent to say, but let’s be honest, is this not how a big part of the Western World thinks on how we take care of this planet? Originally it is a French expression, attributed to Madame de Pompadour during the Battle of Rossbach, which was disastrous for the French. There are two possible interpretations to this archaic statement, one “after my reign, the nation will be plunged into chaos and destruction”; or “After me, let the deluge come”.

Besides this sentence my 94 year old grandmother has been very inspiring to me since I little. As she is too old to leave the house her family, who she receives visits from, are the only witnesses of her extravagance. Every morning the same ritual takes her hours. When she is sick, she doesn’t go to bed because according to her; most people die in their beds. She is a real tough one! What has been driven her to keep up her appearance? What drives humanity to keep up their appearance? we dress up crazy for kentucky derbies to only witness 2 min of animal abuse. Our status drives us mad in the mist sometimes. The strength in its obsession and the power of its control. The abundance of contrast in our values and the irony of its expressions.
