ANASTASIA LOMONOVA

Grey Sheep

Location

montreal / canada

Anastasia Lomonova was born in Odessa, Ukraine in 1984. After the collapse of the USSR, she moved to Cyprus with her family where they lived for several years before coming to Canada.
Initially trained as a visual artist, specializing in oil painting, Anastasia entered the Ryerson University school of fashion with the desire to express her creativity in a more socially involved domain.
After completing her apprenticeships, she started her eponymous label in 2007. Since then, Anastasia has won several awards and been named one of Canada’s most promising young designers.

The line is an exploration of design that goes beyond seasons, ages, lifestyles and above trends. An anthropological analysis of conceptual themes drawing inspiration on everything and nothing at all. The result is a thesis statement demonstrating how abstract, intangible ideas translate into ready-to-wear attire.
Seemingly unrelated elements are brought together and interpreted in garment form. Thought-provoking viewpoints are materialized via fabric. Concepts and abstract visions are voiced through carefully pronounced design components.
