I was born in Sheffield, in the north of England and It was here, in what was once the preeminent industrial city of Great Britain, where the finest steel in the world was produced, that I developed an interest in making things. By the time I was 10 years old
I had decided that I would be an architect or engineer or both.

After moving to London things changed, I began to study Art and discovered Walter Gropius and the Bauhaus movement, Russian Constructivism, Film Noir & Vintage Clothing Markets. I went on to study Photography, Textile Printing, Typography, Graphic Design and finally a degree in Fashion Design Tailoring and Pattern Cutting at Central Saint Martins School of Art in London.

After leaving Saint Martins I began working as a Men’s Wear designer & Illustrator, moving to New York and finally Paris where I started the label Analogue Underground in 2004.

The collections are developed from eclectic points of inspiration, incorporating all of my previous and current interests. Analogue Underground is my way of exploring the combination of a slightly vintage feel and aesthetic with modern silhouettes, using hand finishing techniques and different construction methods to create something modern.

The pieces are produced primarily in small workshops and ateliers in France and sometimes in Italy and the UK. In an age of globalization, de-localization and standardized, automated production the look that I aim for is one that shows the signs of human Intervention in the production process. Emphasis is placed on fabrics made from natural fibers and as much use of organic and sustainable fabrics as possible.
