Amber Capewell

AMBER CAPEWELL is a luxury footwear brand established in 2017. Having recently graduated from the prestigious University of the Arts London - London College of Fashion, Amber specialised in women’s footwear. The design aesthetics of the brand are contemporary, textural, subtle, yet intricate details with mixed materials, material manipulation and clean silhouettes. She aspires to create innovative yet elegant designs, always being inspired by cities and culture. The final collection for 2018 is based on Marrakech, a place full of colour, patterns and textures. As a recipient of the ‘Cordwainers travel scholarship’, this helped fund a research trip to support the final year project to gain inspiration for the collection. Experiments and developments pushed ideas, creating designs that are still commercial and luxury, but have something original to them. Unique material manipulations were created for the graduate collection including Moroccan-style patterns engraved into wooden block heels with mother of pearl inlays and hand dyed, hand woven uppers.
During her time at university, Amber completed three internships. She was awarded ‘The Kurt Geiger BA Paid Placement Scholarship’, allowing her to complete a 6-month placement with the company. As well as Kurt Geiger, she completed two other placements during the year at L.K.Bennett and Ted Baker. All of these placements have given experience in the industry to develop and progress as a designer. She has also been nominated for the National Footwear Design Student Of The Year award, which will be presented by the iconic footwear designer, Nicholas Kirkwood.
Amber is now looking to immerse herself in new challenges to develop further and gain vital experience. Open to working globally to pursue a career in the industry.
