Alice Tola is a womenswear designer who's work focuses on sharp and structured cutting, analyzing the contrast between craftsmanship and tradition with innovation and modernity. Alice Tola studied BA Fashion design at the University of Westminster, London, graduating in 2021 and has previous experiences as runway and RTW designer at brands such as Acne Studios and Thom Browne. Alice Tola's graduate collection was released in july 2021: The collection questions and explores history and technological advance, looking at the traditions of Sardinia alongside the promise of perfection from AI.

GIFTED SOUL

This collection questions and explores tradition and technological advance, looking at the history of Sardinia alongside AI’s promise of mechanical perfection.
The use of articulate and structural cutting within the practice of tailoring echoes robotic armour and creates contrast with the more organic lines and the spray-painted ceramic motif. The petal-shaped panels flourishing from the seams indicating life within mechanization, the same way the script code hides the designer’s personal data and memories.
Longevity and Durability are at the core of the collection. Natural, long lasting material such as wool, silk and leather endorse the timeless beauty and contemporaneity of ‘tradition’. This quest for a new hybrid reality resolves into an innovative approach to the eradicated cultural background of the island, finding harmony and balance between nature and the manmade, innovation and the urge for a new validation of the crafts.

The value of the human touch will erase the fear of change.
