The A Team is a directional fashion collection which explores concepts relating to contemporary sports wear, the increasing need for garments which allow extreme ranges of movement without compromising aesthetics. the female sports person as athlete V’s spectacle, focusing on the pop culture Icon of the American Cheerleader and subverting archetypical garments associated with American Varsity culture, the Bomber Jacket is re-imagined to create rhythm when worn allowing the physical body to achieve a full range of motion, pleating techniques are engineered to compliment the movement of the body while taffeta fabrication used in garments sounds like the pom poms of the cheerleader when the garment is in motion. After extensive research into techno textiles scaled mesh fabrications, elastics and bonded neoprene are used within the collection, the fabrications reflecting ideas of concealing/revealing the body, questioning the need to reveal the female form in sports wear to allow for extreme ranges of movement.
