Akong London is a hot new designer jewellery label launched in January 2010. The simple ethos behind our brand is to produce stand-out, statement pieces with universal high fashion appeal. We use luxe materials from feathers and fur to all manner of chains, crystals and semi-precious gems and mercilessly edit each component until we arrive at a finished design. Because each piece demands hours of intense labour, we produce only limited-edition, capsule collections every season.

A/W 2010-11

This second capsule collection of luxe statement necklaces by Nicole Akong pays homage to the traditional role of jewellery as the ultimate physical adornment to convey status and power, and brings it to the modern world of high fashion.

To execute the creative vision behind the collection, the designer searched far and wide for the materials and techniques used to produce these exquisite handmade pieces. Beautifully soft feather and faux fur trims are stitched into chunky 18-carat gold plated chains, embellished with crystals, glass, chain fringes, gold dangles and finished with velvet bows; delicate chains are woven together to produce shimmering and fluid ‘fabrics’ that can be worn as embellished collars and bibs — resulting in pieces that
are both hard and soft; bold, yet extremely delicate.

It is this wonderfully unexpected marriage of delectable textures and colours has come to be the distinctive signature of Akong London.
