Adriana is a Venezuelan-Italian jewelry designer based in Rome. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, influenced by the tropical culture and the Italian background of her grandparents. After obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Communications and working in the industry for some years, she decided to follow her passion and moved to Italy to study fashion and accessories design in Milan.

Completing her studies at Istituto Marangoni in 2010, along with a specialization at Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), she moved to London and gained professional experience in the London Fashion Industry by working closely with the creative teams at fashion and accessories labels, while furthering her expertise taking part in different courses at the London College of Fashion (LCF) and other schools. In 2014 returned to Italy, settled in Rome, and always attracted by the accessories world she trained in jewelry production at the prestigious Accademia delle Arte Orafe.

Her fascination with metals and the antique goldsmith techniques drives her to design and produce her own jewelry line, completely handmade in Italy, using only precious metals such as silver and gold, with a minimalist aesthetic and architectonic inspiration. Geometric and futurist lines create clean and dynamic structures.

Adriana Gerbasi, as a designer, is timeless luxury with an artisan sensibility. It’s a constant exploration into the past to discover fascinating references, while keeping an eye into the future to re-propose and create new concepts. It’s the right balance between innovation and tradition.

In Venezuela during the seventies, in a nation already embraced by progress and modern thinking, a new generation of plastic artists and graphic designers burst into the scene with a new way of understanding the future, decoding the aesthetic of time through the creation of a new and defining visual language, that of the potential country, of a promising country. The great mentor was the Lithuanian immigrant Gerd Leufert, who found a white canvas in the country of Soto and Villanueva, and together with his contemporaries inspired and showed the way to a whole new generation of young artists. The mentor, his wife the artist Gego, his pupils and colleagues, of whom we can mention the also renown Alvaro Sotillo and the italian Nedo Mion Ferrario, were all part of a new graphic movement that recognized tradition and vested it with modernism, soundness and dynamism; typical values of a booming country. They delve into geometric exploration, leaving behind realism, to adopt abstraction as the purest form to illustrate the future. They become passionate and obsessed for improbable shapes, with the fabrication of geometric optical illusions, taking on the challenge to overcome the difficulty of obtaining Impossible Designs. Dibujos Imposibles (Impossible Designs) collection intends to reallocate that visual language into the body, making it art and part of the dynamism and movement. Is a bet now on that promising country that may seem difficult to grasp, but that continues to be a grand possibility.
