Abbie Stirrup is a hybrid fashion designer/researcher actively enhancing a vibrant, energetic and sustainable future. Abbie found the combination between performance, material science and colour theory to be at the core of her practice. Often using her own body as the canvas, exploring how the future of humanity can be enhanced directly through design.
During her masters degree at the Royal College of Art in London Abbie attempted to challenge the formal fashion process eliminating sewing and designing directly onto the skin. This involved pouring liquid materials, mould making, airbrushing and performance art.
Shortly after graduating from the RCA Abbie moved to Tokyo working alongside scientists as a designer/ researcher for the Tokyo Design Lab, exploring colour changing nanoparticles and developing robot skin.
Most recently Abbie set up her own studio collaborating with artists, creating costumes and working as a freelance designer for various design companies including Adidas Brooklyn Creator Farm, Silent Revolution, a yoga/mediation lifestyle brand, YEEZY apparel to name a few.
Abbie’s ambition is to continue to collaborate with artists, designers, inventors combining design, science and technology to innovate within the field of performance wear and costume design.
Please get in contact if you would like bespoke sportswear, costume design or any project/ collaboration that you would relish in bringing Abbie’s flavour to.
