5thPosition

5thposition is a collection of swimwear inspired by the strong and graceful silhouettes of dancers. Named after the most advance and last beginning position of ballet, Istanbul-based brand aims to create forms like dancers’ suits in which women can live all day and move freely.

Born as a child of a ballet dancer, the founder of the brand Buse Uğur, has started dancing at a very early age. Buse started education on classical ballet, but her free spirit led her to go on with the contemporary dance. During all these years, she designed and sewed her own dance suits. Using them as swimwear on beaches, she created the own fans of her designs which eventually inspired the initial idea of the brand.

In 2014, the first lookbook of the brand, shot with model Ezgi Bozkurt. Being also a product designer and interior architectural designer, Ezgi felt in love with the idea of using dance as an inspiration for beachwear and became a good supporter and friend of Buse. This friendship lead to a partnership in the end of 2014, and on March 2015 fellow duo launched their first collection with a runway show on Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Istanbul.

On its third season, 5thposition swimwear, which is now available on selected boutiques and stores around the world, is a well-known, respected brand launched two seasons on MBFWI.
