Originally hailing from Glasgow, he was thrust into the world of fashion at an early age. His mother was a knitwear designer, and her influence seemed to pass through the blood. Creativity was encouraged from a very early age. Through observation of her at work; and being surrounded by materials and tools of the trade, this encouraged Richard to make items at a very young age; outfits for his cat, outfits for his sister as well as himself.
His aesthetic and inspiration came through the klatch of unique women gathered there - style and attitude, day and night which still serve as muse.
Richard studied fashion very briefly in 2001; and in typical enfant terrible style, rebellion and non-conformity saw him “exiting” the course. This was a blessing in disguise by further encouraging him to develop and progress his self honed technique and aesthetic.
2008 saw Richard wave goodbye to Glasgow to become an émigré in the big smoke. The style and vibrancy of the City proved to be of great inspiration, this then led to the idea and birth of "23 7 Richard Borges"
