For my collection, I was captivated with myriads of concepts of extremely varied nature, thoughts and emotions. Ranging from a vintage Oxbridge aesthetic to a frat party in the 80’s infused with smoke & drugs; childlike wonder leading to questions about the workings of the universe, I sought to blend them into a story of my own.
Coming out of the bout of existentialism that the world experienced in the last year, I wondered about humans as a species, the way our minds work and the planet, itself. When I came across the Flat Earth Society, I was shocked, almost amused, that humans could doubt the primary shape of the Earth, something so fundamental that constitutes the basis of a major portion of science as we know it today. I explored all their beliefs, workings and ideologies. My imagination soared as I came across the ancient maps of a flat Earth. The curved latitudes and longitudes, a Game-of-Thrones-esque ice wall encircling the earth, the flat discs and illusions, have all been the inspiration behind my collection.
