James Flemons was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. When life offered him asthma, he tooled it and fueled it to the discovery of his sister's Barbie sketch designer launching his interest in fashion. In 2012 he graduated with an Associates degree in Product Development from FIDM, and his senior portfolio was used as the platform to base the Senior Product Development Curriculum at all campuses.
Flemons to PHLEMUNS, is contemplative and dynamic. Thinking outside the norms of convention and taking to reinvention and recycling. Creating the perfect fluidity of reconstruction of old to new. The use of playing with off proportions is shown throughout his pieces. He achieves a balance of unisex androgyny, classic silhouettes, and the idea of juxtaposition through the process of looking at womenswear and make it masculine for men, and then translating that back into womenswear. With the state of trend driven fast fashion and reselling that we live in today, he strives to create clothing that people will want to hold on to and wear forever.
