BUTABU- A/W 2015

The concept behind Butabu stems from the Nomadic Tuaregs of Northern/Western Africa. Their daily life, culture, customs, voluminous garments, and adobe castles referred to as Butabu; Hence the name of the collection was born. Through extensive research and study I was able to incorporate intricate details of this tradition by imitating the silhouette of the the of the archaic buildings they reside in. As I derved deeper into the lives of the Tuaregs I started to learn the true meaning behind their clothing.
