My collection “You are terrible Muriel” draws inspiration from my personal dating experiences as a young adult. Under emotionally driven circumstances, I often found myself allowing other people to control and objectify me. Being dismissed as a mere physical entity for sexual interaction drove me to translate the emotional pain into clothing. My experience ultimately raised questions about what it means to be under appreciated as a mere pretty object and inspired comparisons with things we dismiss as ‘kitsch,’ existing in everyday spaces but within which we do not bother to find value.
