Mestizaje is the act of racial and cultural intermixing. Knowing the meaning of this word brought images of Frida Kahlo to my mind. She was my inspiration given the rich mix in her cultural background and her significant art. Frida had a life full or struggles and she could only vent through painting and maintaining a vibrant wardrobe. Looking at her attire, we see florals and mix of colors present dominantly. In this collection, black was my color, and the florals were portrayed in lace.
